It's election season and we all know how important that is. Worcester Magazine contacted me and asked if I'd do a cover for the upcoming Mayoral race, which then
led to including the candidates for City Council as well (Worcester has a very
complex form of government). < I wanted to do a sort of weathered old boxing poster stuck to a brick wall. At the last minute I opted to keep things bright and colorful and I'm not sure that was the best idea in the end. Regardless, the fine folks at WoMag are always a pleasure to work with. |
ArtsWorcester is a terrific organization and I can't say enough good things about them. Fire and Ice 2007 is a member show featuring a Gala opening on Nov 16th from 6-9pm (tickets are $25.00) and includes a silent auction which is usually a lot of fun. Veronica and I will both be participating in the show, my offering will be Dynamic Duo > which will be on display until Dec 19th at the Aurora Gallery on Main Street near the downtown Worcester area. We've also been talking to director Jan Seymour about a dual show at one of the satellite galleries and plan on ironing out the details soon, so expect a Fish and Hebs show sometime in 2008. |

Last spring I did this big fold out map of Jamaica Plain for EL PLANETA magazine. I also handled the layout and ads which run around the map. I'm back with them, this time doing an even BIGGER map of East Boston and a winter/Xmas version of the one shown to the left << |
From way WAAY up in the Arctic Circle, Inhabit Media is doing a book on Inuit Myths and Legends and I have contributed over a half dozen
pencil drawings, ink illustrations and paintings to the project. The sample
shown is a pencil and graphite drawing of the dreaded Mahaha who you wouldn't
want to run into on a cold winters night. >> Veronica is also working with them and has done some truly amazing work for the project. |
Other Projects... BAT MAN 1939 Think you know Batman? Think again. 1939 Gotham City; A group of gangsters has attacked and killed a man on the elevated tracks of the six train at midnight-- from nowhere an inky black shadow is on them, and in seconds they lay in a bloody heap on the tracks. As the dark figure turns to go he is jumped by one of the gangsters who remained hidden during the fight, and the thug has managed to wrap a heavy wire around The Bat Man's neck. Choking him for a second, The Bat Man finally gets free and begins to mercilessly beat the thug. Soon, he can take no more. "Please, stop! I'm done." he pleads. The Bat Man picks up the strangling device the thug had used on him. "No you aren't." He growls as he whips it around his neck, strangling the life out of him. A the figure falls limp, The Bat Man rises. "Now you are." he says as he tosses the wire on the lifeless body. In the earliest days of Batman's crusade against crime, he was a lethal avenger-- dispelling both judgement and execution on those he felt guilty. Born from the bloody pulp novels of the 1930s, this story examines how The Bat Man went from Pulp Avenger to Caped Crusader, as he slowly learns that even he can go too far. Look for it from DC Comics in 2008 by Andy Fish, Michael Warshaw and Veronica Hebard. |

Moxie Movies is doing a graphic novel adaption of one of their movies and I'm handling the art. This fun, free spirited comedy/horror film is a blast to work on. I did the character designs working from a script and am handling all page layouts and storytelling as well as coloring and lettering. I'm treating it like Mad Magazine meets Heavy Metal. << This is a sample of a page in progress. The completed book should be available sometime in 2008. |
Not content with working on THE GIRL WITH THE REALLY BIG THUMBS or BATMAN 1939 I'm also in the planning stages of MOLAR WARS; THE BATTLE BETWEEN THE TOOTH FAIRY AND THE EASTER BUNNY. It's only natural that the Tooth Fairy, collector of teeth and builder of the Molar Kingdom sets his sights on the jumbo teeth of the Easter Rabbit. This piece will be in the auction for ArtsWorcester on the 16th of November at 6pm-- so get your tickets now and pick up this one of a kind original piece of, um, art. |
